A tour that visits the Belgian–French border, taking in all the history and culture of this spectacular region. Visit the city scapes and traditions of Bruges, Ghent and Lille. We will also take in a tour of the Flanders Battlefields, a must for any history fans. While Lille is a surprising city, full of hidden gems and just waiting to be discovered, Bruges is one of the best-preserved small cities in Europe where beautiful architecture and picturesque canals await.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day 1
On the first afternoon the group will travel to Wexford for an overnight stay.

Day 2
This morning we take an early sailing from Rosslare to the UK with an overnight stay in Reading.

Day 3
Today we take the short journey to Calais and on to our hotel in Lille, where we will be based for the next four nights. Arrive in the city early afternoon and visit the cobbled city centre and first introduction to the Flemish culture.

Day 4
Today we travel to the nearby city of Bruges, nicknamed the Venice of the North. Begin with a guided walking tour in Bruges city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover all there is to see in this charming city, including a visit to the renowned Basilica of the Holy Blood. In the afternoon, board your boat by the canal for a short cruise around the city before a chance to explore the city’s museums, shops, churches and canals at leisure.

Day 5
The port city of Ghent is renowned for its medieval marketplace and is synonymous with the traditional Belgian lifestyle. On this visit, as well as a Ghent Canal Cruise, passengers will take a guided walking tour through the city highlights and enjoy a ‘tour and taste’ experience as you go, experiencing the local cuisine as part of the tour. We will return to Lille in time for dinner.
Day 6
Today we will explore Lille with a guided tour in the morning. Take a stroll through the maze of cobbled lanes in Lille’s old town. Feast your eyes on the ornate 17th century Vieille Bourse, the city’s finest building, and the Grand Place, before a tour of the Flanders Battlefields.

Day 7
Enjoy a final morning in Lille before an afternoon return crossing to the UK.

Day 8
This afternoon we return to Ireland by ferry.
