From ancient high kings to modern day poets, saints and scholars to ramblers and fishermen, Ireland’s Ancient East pulsates with legendary tales. Over 5,000 years of history lies buried within the verdant meadows, bustling towns and rugged stone monuments of Ireland’s Ancient East. Our 3-day tour includes churches, towers and megalithic tombs that tell the story of Ireland’s ancient histories through the ages.
Your Holiday Itinerary
On the first day we will travel to Dublin. Enjoy a coach tour through the city to see some of Dublin’s oldest sites before a guided tour at Glasnevin Cemetery.
Start the day with a visit to the Hill of Tara, the ancient seat of the High Kings of Ireland. Later we will visit the Battle of the Boyne Centre and learn the history of where father and son waged war against each other in the 11th century. We will also visit the nearby Old Mellifont Abbey.
This morning after breakfast we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Brú na Boinne, visiting Newgrange chamber and Knowth, before the return journey home in the afternoon.
